FAQ

Everything you need to know before you book.

What is a ghost producer?

A ghost producer is someone who writes and produces music that gets released under a different artist's name. In electronic music, many touring DJs commission ghost producers to create original tracks because performing, touring, and running a brand leaves little time for studio work. The DJ owns the finished track outright and releases it as their own.

What is ghost producing?

Ghost producing is the same thing as ghost production: writing and producing a track that's released under someone else's name. "Ghost producing" describes the work itself, "ghost production" describes the industry and the service. Both terms mean exactly the same arrangement.

What is the difference between ghost production and co-production?

Ghost production is fully anonymous: the track is released entirely under your name, and I have no public connection to it at all. Co-production is credited: you'll see my name alongside the artist's on the release. Both involve the same level of production work, the only difference is whether the arrangement stays private. See Portfolio for examples of credited co-production work.

How is a project priced?

Every project is quoted individually once I understand your brief: genre, scope, stems, revisions, and turnaround all factor in. See Ghost Production for the tiers of what's included, or submit your brief and I'll come back with a personalised quote.

Who owns the rights to a ghost-produced track?

You do, entirely. Every project I take on transfers full exclusive rights to the client on delivery. I keep no royalty, no credit, and no ongoing claim to the track. That's written into the agreement before any production work starts.

Is this track really only mine, or could it be resold to someone else?

Only yours. Every track is built from scratch, from your brief, for you, there's no pre-made catalog and nothing sitting on a shelf waiting for a second buyer. Unlike marketplace-style ghost production sites selling ready-made tracks, nothing exists until you commission it.

What if I don’t like the first demo?

Nothing is signed off blind. You hear the first demo before committing to the direction, so if it doesn't match your brief at all, we stop there, no further commitment on either side.

Can you guarantee my track gets signed or played by a label?

No, and anyone who promises that isn't being straight with you. I can deliver a track that's genuinely label- and radio-ready, and the Club-Ready and Full Package tiers include pitching notes, but signing, playlisting and radio support depend on factors no producer controls.

Is ghost production legal?

Yes. It is a standard, legal commercial arrangement, comparable to a songwriter selling a song outright, or a ghostwriter writing a book. The agreement specifies that rights transfer to the buyer and that the arrangement stays confidential.

Do well-known DJs actually use ghost producers?

Yes, it's one of the electronic music industry's most widely known open secrets. Many touring and festival DJs commission tracks from producers who specialise in specific genres or sounds, then release the work under their own name.

Will anyone find out I used a ghost producer?

No. Confidentiality is built into every project. A mutual NDA is signed before I even see your brief, I never publicly claim the track, and I don't discuss client work. The only names on the final release are yours.

What genres do you produce?

I cover most of the mainstream electronic genres: big room and festival progressive, tech house, house, melodic house and techno, and trance. If you're not sure your genre fits, send a reference track through the quote form and I'll confirm.

How long does a track take?

A typical single track takes 2-4 weeks from signed brief to final delivery, depending on the package and how many revision rounds are used. Rush turnaround is available on request, ask when you submit your brief.

Do you provide stems?

Yes, full stem exports are included in the Club-Ready and Full Package tiers, and available as an add-on on the Radio-Ready tier. Stems let you perform the track live or hand it to another engineer for further work.

What do you need from me to get started?

Genre, 1-3 reference tracks so I understand the sound you want, the purpose of the track (club set, radio, label submission), and your deadline. Submit all of that through the brief form and I'll reply within 48 hours with a personalised quote.

Do you also mix and master tracks I have already produced?

Yes. If you have your own production and just need it finished to a professional standard, see Mixing & Mastering.

Still have questions?

Send me your brief and any question with it, I reply within 48 hours.
